Reflection paragraph: Honestly, I just really liked Hagar from the get-go. She felt underappreciated from the start. She spoke to me. I skimmed her story again, only to realize that she’s really mentioned in two chapters. From there, I broke each chapter into three main points and turned each point into a captioned illustration. My biggest hurdle was actually trying to keep this appropriate and respectful. Otherwise, I think I did a fairly good job and I think the translation was pretty easy. I gave Hagar the user name “the other mother of the other nation” because she was promised that her son, too, would become a great nation, making her pretty directly involved in the story of salvation, as it is through her bloodline that the story continues. Connecting Hagar to hospitality is a little tough because there’s so little information about her, but the best I can think of would probably be how God had helped her. We should see and hear the needy the way God saw and helped Hagar twice.
